In the professional world Ruth is a seamstress with more than three decades of designing costumes and clothing for ballet, theatre, and everyday wear. She has also mastered practical application in designing and working with upholstery and rugged work clothing.
In her day-to-day life, Ruth is an active woman. She spends much of her free time backpacking, gardening, and sewing as well as being a ballet dancer and an actress.
Ruth has been involved with Search & Rescue since 2003, as both a ground searcher and also a rope rescue technician.
She quickly found herself in need of a reliable, yet easy to use, chest pack and set out to create her own.
With her innovative design, the 'Ruth Sears' chest pack has been put to use by ground pounders, rope rescue teams, mounted SAR, ATV, and snow teams. Her design is so innovative and easy to wear, it is also being used by K9 and dive teams, communications units, fire fighters, and paramedics.
Ruth's design is being used by Search & Rescue members across the United States, Canada, Australia, France, and Iceland.
